Uncharted Territory
In the days of Joshua, God called His people to cross the Jordan River into an unknown and unfamiliar land. Even though God had incredible future plans for His people, God was asking them to leave their comforts for something uncertain. In the midst of their apprehension, doubt, and fear, God reminds Joshua that He is with them. As they entered the unknown, they weren’t alone. Joshua tells the people that when they trust God and let Him lead, “then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before” (Joshua 3:4, NIV). Even though God may call us to go where we’ve never been before and do what we’ve never done before, we should never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
